Easy to use particle storage.Function over Form!
This website is a work in progress, please be patient while I teach myself PHP & MySQL. If you run into any errors please let me know, or once available, look at the FAQ. For past/current/future changes check out the Change Log.
ImgResizer v0.1 Beta
The latest - 10.18.07
Fixed a bug on the albums page where "Showing 36 to 72 of 68" (example).
Looking into the next revision of ImgResizer which will include a few bug fixes (Thanks Drkstar), new features such as cropping and may be redone in .Net 2.0.
The PhotoReactor project is spearheaded by Byron R for use (initially) for family and friends.
This project was started so I could see photos of my family while living away from everyone.
More project information will surface over time.
Turning gears - 09.04.07
Integrated basic "paging" feature on album page. (breaks albums up into multiple pages)
^^ Still working on it as there is a bug... > Fixed
Working on security & permissions for albums, photos, and accounts.
ImgResizer - v0.1 Beta - 08.17.07
I've been hard at work building an image utility, and the first beta is ready. =)
ImgResizer v0.1 Beta
Upcoming changes - 8.31.07
I'm working on "paging" so a certain amount of photos show up at once instead of everything.
Working on the PM system.
Changed some code on the album page so the browser knows how big each image is and stays one size instead of growing with each photo that loads.
Photo sizes - 8.27.07
Massive code update, which was long overdue... The upload function has been updated so it uploads and resizes to Thumbnail, Small, Medium, Large, and it keeps the Original.
Photo sizes - 8.23.07
I updated the photo display page today so that all the links and sizes work - Thumbnail, Small, Medium, Large, Original. I can't believe I let it sit in a broken state for 4 months...
In other news I'm looking at that other hosting provider since they have more tools and after testing my dynamic zip script, I may test their cluster servers.
Possible hosting change - 4.17.07
I'm looking into a host I found a few days ago that is in... Russia! Ja! Basically if I decide to switch over all of my projects will become a subdomain of ByronR.com - but to add to this, the new host supports more toys for me to use! Such as ImageMagick so I can try to add support for animated, and still .gif's!
All of the images have been resized - I'm now working on the display code so they all work.
Batch script - 4.16.07
The batch script will be running throughout the day, which may make the site extremely slow as it's CPU/Memory intensive. Once all the images have been moved I'll make changes to the database and start updating page coding to show the new images.
Update on coding - 4.15.07
I have most of the script complete, and I'll hopefully be able to run it tomorrow and get everything up and running short after.
I somehow just hit an infinite loop with my batch script (NOOOO!!!!) so I'm waiting for the script to time out... The script is getting VERY close to being done =D
Flaw found & fixed - 4.11.07
I found a flaw in the image processing script that would error depending on how file extensions where formatted, this has been corrected. Also updated a few pages that require sessions - click "Upload Photos" be sent to login page (if logged out), once you log in, the script will bump you back to the Upload page.
Small changes made - 4.09.07
I've updated the upload form page to drop back into itself, show the images you just uploaded and auto select the same album so you can upload your next batch of photos.
Upcoming downtime - 4.07.07 (Site will show maintenance message)
I'll be making MAJOR modifications to server side code, and the database structure.
ALL user uploaded images will disappear during these changes, however rest assured that your images have NOT been deleted. Once all the code changes have been made your images will be automatically updated to show up once again.
Loving programmer or just cynical? - 3.28.07
To aid those who are on slow connections and can't resize images on their computers, I'll be programming or modding a basic program so you can do so before uploading your images. Why upload a 1600x1200 image at 4mb when you can upload a decent 800x600 image and have it weight in around 1/2mb? Please note you'll need the ".NET 1.1" framework installed.
Upcoming c-c-changes! - 3.29.07
I may make some drastic code changes in the near future to expand the framework for the site. While initially these changes may slow down production, they should prove in the long run to be very worth while. Just a heads up!
Moving forward - 3.27.07
I've made changes to the upload process (server side), and the upload confirmation page (server/client side). After your image(s) have uploaded, it only shows those images instead of everything.
I'll probably be making changes to the database for some additional image support - being able to resize & add other sizes after the image has been uploaded.
FYI - My tonsillectomy went great, and I'm recovering just fine.
Tonsillectomy - 3.14.07 (Happy Pi-Day!)
I'll be going in on 3.16.06 to have my tonsils removed, so don't expect any updates for a couple of weeks. When I'm back in good heath and caught up on work I'll resume coding here =)
Small update
I started a small project to upload all the Futurama intro screens [Season 1-5], and while doing so noticed a bug in my SQL code which was not displaying the 1st photo in every album. This bug has been fixed.
Misc code updates
While fixing the image quality code I toyed with some SQL and made a mistake - I should be able to fix it tomorrow. Also updating some code in the upload script to bypass .gif files (not supported right now) and I'm building a script to search for unknown file types and purge them (this will remove the blank [white or black] areas where a photo would usually show).
Image Display Quality - FIXED
I'm recoding recoded a section of the image display script so it doesn't mess with the quality of the image - while it is (was) showing the image, it was showing the image with flaws due to way the image was being opened.
Re: Pause in Development
Reformatted my pc and upgraded to a SATA (150) drive [Will never run IDE as a main drive again - all HD's are now SATA until solid state is affordable]. If I don't go out of town this weekend I'll probably be making some code changes and adding a few new features -- including a new template. I went out of town, then got sick - tonsillectomy next month! I'll be working on the updates soon though =)
